Net Limiter where are the security features?

Does anyone know if this program has any security features? I have searched
through the help files with no joy, but I seem to think I have read on
usenet that the program can be set up to run hidden and have a password to
access the settings??? I want to run the program on my grandsons PC, but I
cannot see how to stop him accessing the program and fiddling with the
settings. Can anyone help? This is a good program, but it seems to be
lacking on security. Does anyone have any suggestions of better software
than netlimiter? Can anyone help me with something I am overlooking with
the program? The trial software can be found at www.netlimiter.com but it
does not appear to have any security, so really it is pretty useless for me
unfortunately : - ((

Any help would be much appreciated.

James

Netlimiter doesn't have any security features built-in. Thats why you can't
find any : - )

The post on usenet was asking for such a feature to be added. I agree with
you that its pretty much a waste of time as it is. : - (
I don't think it was written for your purpose, but it would serve the
purpose very well if more support was added for these features.

I posted on the very same subject a few weeks ago. It's probably my post
that the originator of this post had read and got confused over. I was
wanting a program that I could install on my kids pc in order to limit their
bandwidth to stop them hogging all my bandwidth all the time. Of course,
you can install netlimiter, but the kids turn it off when they know its
running, so netlimiter is completely useless for this application. Maybe
they will add more support in a later release, or maybe not. Netlimiter is
VERY lacking in this area. I contacted them via a friend twice now, but
they never responded to the email : - (

Anyone else care to try? http://www.netlimiter.com/index.php?p=contact
Or better still, does anyone have any idea of something that will do the
required job that's already available? It has to be software based. I aint
going to buy more hardware again.

Try contacting them to see if they intend adding any such features.. I must
say that I would like them to add some way of stopping the user from
accessing the setup parameters also. It would make the program much more
useful. As it is. its not a deal of use. Perhaps there is some other
software that you could run, that would protect Netlimiter and stop anyone
getting to the settings. Sorry I can't help further, but someone else might
have a suggestion of third party software taht will do the job.

Anybody tried "Bandwidth Controller"?
http://bandwidthcontroller.com/

It doesn't require any software to be installed on the client's PC, but you
might need to set-up a PC as the Internet gateway.
Also I've heard some problems with it crashing the operating system as it
works with low level components of the OS.

Dont want to use a PC to do the job, Netlimiter would do it, if they added
the support. Netlimiter don't appear to reply or even acknowledge email
queries. Strange isn't it.........
