I'm with Freeserve/Wanadoo and use both a desktop and laptop on the same
account.

Both connect to the servers immediately.

The desktop logs in immediately, but the laptop sometimes takes 2 or 3
minutes to negotiate a login.

Any logical reason for this?

Steve

More info req'd. Which operating systems are they using? Is one wireless and
the other wired into the modem/router?

Hi Paul,
The desk top is 98SE and the laptop is win 2000, neither are connected to a
network of any form. Until recently both worked fine - indeed the laptop
has always connected faster than the desktop. I presumed that "something"
had penetrated the laptop, but having run Spybot, Ad-aware, Hijack and
Norton AntiVirus nothing has shown up and the situation hasn't improved.

Cheers
Steve
