I have an up stairs room my wireless will not reach. My access point is in
a down stairs room. Internet is provided through a RCA (Thomson) DCM425
cable modem which is connected to a Netgear WPNT834 Wireless Router. I can
not run wires so all I have available in the room is the cable television
connection and the electrical outlets. The laptop is a Samsung running
Windows 7 Pro with an Intel 5100 AGN modem. Hopefully you experts will make
suggestions on how I might get internet into this room.

You could try powerline networking. There are some equivalent products
for coax if you've got it, but if the powerline stuff works it's probably
not worth the extra cost.
