Need help with my antenna

Hi I bought an 12 dBi TurboTenna Antenna.

I have a pcmcia card 2835 SMC I opened it conected a rp-sma connector
to the card.

I also made a cable for my antenna one side with rp-sma male and the
other with a Nconnector on it.

I connected all together and I pointed it at my AP and I don't have a
better signal on it .

How can I teste this to make sure that it is not the card or the cable
that has the problem??

I'm new in this thing of wifi.
