Need help logging onto a domain across a VPN

Hi All

I Have a situation where I have 50 or so external users who use checkpoint
secure remote to connect to a nokia VPN box, that then allows the users to
look at and use some of our network resourses.

The problem I have is that:-

1. When they need to change their password they can not. The only time they
know that their password is running out is when they can not actually
connect to the exchange server. They are prompted to change there password
but get an error when they try. This means that I have to manually reset
their passwords, which means restting 50 passwords each month....

2. I would also like to run a logon script from the server when ever the
users login, unfortunatley as the user never logins the script is never
executed. Is there a way I could write a little script and place it on the
laptops in question, that the users run, that will log them into the domain.
The users do all have domain accounts.

All the laptops are XP Pro and the server is 2003 with all current updates,
and exchange 2003, not quite with all the current patches.

Any help would be great.

Ian

We have a similiar situation, and instruct our users to connect to the VPN
prior to authenticating onto their laptops. Once you've configured the VPN
connection correctly, users should be presented with a check box at the logon
screen, which allows them to connect using a dial-up networking connection.
If you check the box you should be presented with the option of connection to
the VPN. You'll then be prompted for your VPN credentials. Once the VPN is
pinned up, Windows will authenticate through the tunnel as if it's right on
the LAN. If a user's password is close to expiring, or has been changed since
they last logged in remotely, they'll be prompted to lock the workstation and
re-enter the "new" credentials.

This also allows server-based logon scripts to run as well.

Hope that helps,

So, are you using the builtin VPN software or external software, I am using
check point secure remote, I will have to check the setting to see if I can
do what you say..

At the moment I dont even have the login via dialup box..
