What remote machine?
How is it connecting with RDP?
To save time, I will make some guesses....
?The remote machine is out in Internet-land and is using VPN to get back
into the LAN?
Two choices:
1. Make sure the DHCP that gives the VPN Client the TCP/IP Config when it
connects, also gives it the correct DNS Server which is the AD/DNS on the
LAN
2. If it cannot do #1,...then you will have to manually give the remote
machine the correct DNS IP# within the Dialup Connection Settings for the
VPN.

I just discovered that I have a DNS name resolution issue on my
network. When using remote desktop, I cannot connect via the remote
client’s computer name, I can only connect via IP address. Which lead
me to believe that it’s a DNS name resolution issue, the problem is
that I have no clue on how to fix it.
I am running Windows Sever 2003 SP3 with active directory and DNS.
