Hey guys,

First of all these seem like a great group of forums!

I have a question.... I've been a PC and network guy for awhile... I specialize is Low Voltage.

Is it just me or am I noticing that routers are getting cheap and generic lately? It seems as if a linksys now a days dies after 6 months to a year.
My old linksys is still a workhorse but has old features.

To best explain, I have structured wire ports in my house. I have 14, but only 8 are in use.
I have an HP OfficeJet L7800 that I have attached as a wired network...
I have in my downstairs office a netgear switch that runs several PCs and the printer off the same structure port.
I have several laptops that usually run off wireless on a "G" band.
I have a game sever which sometimes runs off of some Airlink101 Powerline adapters linked off a structure port, or some times shares a wired connection off the structure port and a switch with an xbox.

I push a lot of data through the network as I am an active downloader. We're talking 20GBs gigabytes at a time.. (multi downlaods).. My backbone is a Cox Cable business based modem (2) VOIP line 1 FAX / 1P HONE) from Cox and a Business Dedicated 90% accurate 5m/ps DOWN / 1mb/ps up. I also have a dell PC thats a dual core running a magic jack that pushes approx 10 phones through the structure panel that is my house phone. The printer constantly disconnects, the wireless drops..hard wire is awfully slow. for what it should be. Speed tests show the modem is ok, laptop directly connected to modem shoes much better speeds. All the cat5 is certified OK with my certifier.. great speeds at both ends of each run, all jacks are functioning properly.. Everything is running on a "A" standard. Router is all configured properly. Even my iphone when connected gets the same issues.

Is there a good router out there with great wireless range, that has at least 8 hard wire ports.. and can operate at a good load, when under a lot of large throughput while not breaking my bank? And none the less one that will last forever?

Thanks guys
-Louis

P.S. (YES MY ROUTER NOW HAS GOD RANGE THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE AND OUTSIDE)
