I know, I know This guy needs to go to school to learn this stuff like I
did......
Well im a 44 yr old father and grandfather and can not learn the proper way.
I have been a CAD tech. for 17 years and have worked around and used
networks all this time. I always took for granted how the whole thing
worked, because it was not my job. Well now it's fixing to be.
I just started in a small office with about ten people and a few in Denver,
Dallas, TX and Washington. These people have all kinds of neat-o's, but are
by no means in the 21st century. Still faxing, calling, writing letters
making unnecessary plane trips to do business and save everything to the
DESKTOP or My Computer the owner still writes everything to on her spiral
notebook. It is a Tile Contractor and they do business all over the world.
Job bid drawings are starting to come in on CD instead of hardcopy giant
rolls of paper.
Anyway the have a network hub in a closet and I think a small dedicated
computer for a server. The creator of this thing is no longer around. I am
the new CAD guy that is now in of this thing. I am somewhat literate of
networking and computers, but have never tried to be a network
administrator.
Would some nice knowledgeable networking folks give me a hand to get a grip
on this.
I am a humble inquirer so please no sarcastic or degrading insults. I
acknowledge your expertise in this field.
Thank you,
~JNJ~
