I can't thank you enough, Richard, for your persistence......
This is not looking good......If you don't mind, I would like to tell you
what happend so that you might be able to give a suggestion on a course from
here.....
I am installing a Linksys 10/100 Ethernet adaptor PC card (PCMCIA) in a
notebook running Win95. I used the manufacturer's install CD to install it
via the "Found New Hardware" Setup Wizard - the card says it is compatible
with Win 98..
Upon installation, the drivers were successfully installed....but it errored
twice with "file not found" and it asked me to insert the original Win 98
CD/disk. It was trying to copy the missing files from the
C:\Windows\Options\Cab directory into the C:\Windows\System...(or similar)
directory.
I called the manufacturer hoping they would simply have the files....and
they said they could be found on the 2nd edition Win 98 CD.
This is all I know.....And I am at a loss now. Any ideas on what I might do
from here? The notebook is not Win XP worthy or I would just upgrade the
OS.....problem solved.
Thank you again, most kindly, Cynthia-
