I have just bought a wireless network card for my Windows 98 computer. I have placed it in and installed the drivers but in the device manager it comes up with an exclamation mark in a yellow circle and says "The NDIS.VXD, NTKERN.VXD device loaders could not load the device driver for the device (code 2)."

Does anyone know how to fix this if so please help.

Go to Device Manager, un-install the network card, turn off the
computer, move the card to a different slot, and reboot.

Hi,

I am having the exact same problem with an MSI PC11B2 WIFI card on Win98SE.
Initially I has Win98 1st edition installed, I thought the problem was
because I need Win98SE for Internet connection sharing, so I installed
Win98SE, but same problem (but maybe the actual code has changed)

Microsoft says you should uninstall any program that could do something with
DHCP, but I don't have any.

Did you install the card driver before installing ICS, or after, I read in
some forum that it could make a difference, will try this evening.

I'll keep you informed.

Regards

Some more news:

After verification, I also had error code 2 with Win98 1st edition.
With win98SE, I had code 8.
After retrying a new win98SE and then driver install, but with the card in
the PC from the beginning, the problem was solved.
The only difference I see was that in the last case, before the driver
install, win98SE install created in the device manager list a network card.
I guess that since win98se detected the card during the install, more
network related stuff was installed, and apparently this solved the problem.

Good luck.
