NDIS

Respected Madam/Sir,

We are the students of the G H Patel College Of Engg. & Tech. at India
(http://www.gcet.ac.in),studying in the Fianl Year of the Computere Sceinece,
currently working on the project of VPN server and wants to know about the
WFP where it fits on our project.

We read the paper about the Windows Filtering Platform on the Microsoft
Web-site and found the information for the WFP and referenced this e-mail.

We are developing the project for the VPN server as a final Semister project
and we are working on that in the group of the two people and most of the
Analysis Phase of the project is completed and now the develpment phase will
started soon , we collected the information about the TDI ( Trasport Device
Interface), LSP (Layered Service Provider ) and NDIS-IM (Network Device
Interface Specification -Intermmediate Driver ) among them finally we
decieded to implement and built one NDIS-IM drive and do the encryption
before the packet is relayed down.

The Aim of the Project is Some Thing Like , We want to use the existing
TCP/IP stack and utility ping and in that first remote computer connects to
its locale ISP and then when connects to the Corparate VPN server then
addisional route added at the client side and we will modify the exisiting
route table on the clinet - this work can be accomplised by the Windows 2003
SDK we found some material and API for that.

Now from the client if the packet is destined to the Corpate VPN server
which is our server as a part of our developing the project ,than the packet
must be encrypted and AH will added and the packet is modified in terms of
security and then again relayed down through the ISP and then when the packet
comes to the corparate our VPN server we do the reverse thing.

This is the aim of the project and for the intial demostration and
presentaion of the project we decided to show that while pinging any of the
other server we capture the packet and shows the data portion for that packet
which is normal ECHO request and ICMP and the data would be the 100 byte and
in normal Understanding abcdefghijkl...z and more .

we want to show that while pinging the corparte sever that packet will be
encrypted and the data portion is encrypted this is for the intial phase. We
do not want to develope the VPN-SSL because for that application should be
aware so we want to show that existing application which are using TCP/IP
stack need not to be modified .

I am just worrying some thing because the dead line is coming closer and
closer and do not find any of the Information about this. concept and all the
things are clear but as not the level at the desired and do not finding the
any of the Information about the NDIS-IM (DEVELOPING NDIS- IM) in Windows
2000 DDK i found some thing but it is not so enough to start the developing
phase.

The platofrm and all the resources can be changed at any time so it does not
matter at all.means that on which pltform we are developing the application
is not the matter and we read your paper so we found some thing in this which
may be usefull to us so we are doing e-mail to you.

I knew that it is too long and time consuming , but thanx very much for
reading this, and if possible than do reply and help me in this so we can
complete our project. Also if in LongHorn all this thing is possible than
please send me the details about that from where i can get it and infomation
about that because this would be totally strange but we are really eager to
know about that also apart from every thing.
