Just got a SAR110 router for my single PC (ADSL link).

Any advantages in using NAT if the router's firewall and IP filtering
is active??

Also, if I only have 1 PC, can I set the NAT log's timeouts to very
short periods (1-2 secs?) to keep the log small? Is there any point in
keeping these translation tables for longer, since the data's always
going to/from the same 1 pc!

(SAR110 has a problem when it's NAT translation tables getting full)

Thanks,

John

Yes, hiding your lone PC from the world is a good thing.

I imagine setting the NAT interval depends on what sort of configuration
options the SAR110 comes with, it should be configurable. The timeout
interval sets how long an inactive connection remains in the NAT table.
Typically this is set in minutes.I don't think there would be a performance
penalty with a single PC. Or you could allocate more space for the log.
