Hello,
Don't you love it when you solve something *before* asking the silly
question? I was having the problem that my pppd was killing named every
time its connection went down. After reading all the man files I could
find, and searching the 'net to no avail, I decided to ask the question
here. I typed it all out, gathered together everything that seemed
relevant, and was just about to hit [Send] when I thought I'd have one
last look on my machine to see if there was any other information that
would help solve the mystery...
Hmm, I thought, I wonder what's in this '/etc/ppp/ip-up' script? Oh...
Many moons ago, I had specifically crafted ip-up and ip-down to bring
named up and down with pppd -- obviously hadn't thought I'd be using ppp
again, so I'd never gotten around to cleaning them up, and hadn't used
ppp for so long I'd forgotten. I did have a vague thought in the back
of my mind that the reasons for my problem may be historical...
So, thank you all for your help! :-)
Cheers,
Pete.
