name resolution problem

Hi,

I have a setup where I PXE boot a Windows 98 "dos" kernel to workstations
and from this minimal setup I then run a Windows XP installation.

The works for all network segments but one. On this one segment I can't ping
a server by name or perform a net view \\servername of a server on another
segment. I can ping everything on the local network. If I add a server from
another network to the hosts file I can ping this server by name - I can
always ping the server by IP address which means that network connectivity
are there. It does not help anything to add the server to the lmhosts file
(I still can't perform a net view \\servername).

Workstation gets it IP address from a DHCP server. Both DNS and WINS
addresses appear to be correct.

If I try the net view or net use command I get the error 53 "The computer
name specified in the network path cannot be located"

the subnet is configured to be 255.255.0.0

Any suggestions to what might be causing this behaviour?

Leif
