My USB WiFi NIC freezes system on XP :(

I recently bought a WiFi USB card, a SENAO 2511UB device since than have
problems with it running on XP Pro SP1 EN with all critical hotfixes,
drivers 1.07.37, firmware 1.04.02.00.

9 out of 10 times I turn on my computer the card is not recognized and
(Unknown Device in USB in Devices Manager). I have to plug it out and plug
it in again and than it is recognized or bluescreens my computer with a
BAD_POOL_CALLER blue screen of death.

I have also suffered from numerous freezes of my computer (no bluescreen, no
event log entries - only hardware reset helps), there were no such problems
before the SENAO equipment was installed on the system.

In addition to above, any attempt to copy files via local LAN connection
fails with fatal system freeze. :/

Does enyone has any clues? Maybe I should go for a self-powered USB hub? My
system is ABIT IS7-E with LAN NIC on-board, another NIC from 3COM sits in
PCI slot, so the USB device is the 3rd NIC in the system. Only my
IntelliMouse 1.0A uses USB, no other USB devices are in the system.

sincerely,

I'd take it back wherever you got it. You can try looking in Google for
fixes but my bet is that either all of the units are crap, the driver is
crap or you just have a bad one.
The only other thing I can think of is to look for an updated driver for it.

If you are using the manufacturers setup utility you need to disable the
Windows Wireless Zero one.
Alternatively uninstall the man. utility (not the driver) and let Wireless
Zero in control.

Driver update from SENAO resolved the problem, however that driver is not
offered on webpage when you browse for 2511UB device drivers, that is why I
post the response from SENAO for other users reference:

-- CUT HERE --
It seems as though you may be having some driver conflict error.

Could you please remove the driver from you system by following the steps
below.

From the Windows XP Control Panel, double click on the "System" icon and
then select the "Hardware" tab. Then click on the "Device Manager" button.

Under "Network Adapters" right click on the USB device and then click on
"Uninstall" -- This will uninstall the drivers.

Unplug the USB device, and then restart your computer.

Then install driver 8.0.2 from here:
http://www.senao.com.tw/english/prod...erSetup802.zip

After the software installation is complete, plug in the USB adapter and
follow the directions on the screen.

This driver may solve your problem. If the problem persists, it could be due
to a corrupted registry. Please try it on a different computer, even then
if the problem persists, please let us know

sincerely,
