Cuz most dynamic dns service is not free and not stable,

Is there any dynamic dns server and client
so that I can host my dynamic dns server?

I have tried DIYDNS but the client needs to use dhcp (Am I right?)
Cuz my linux client use pppoe, no dhcp is involved,
I can't use this software

DHCP has to do with the ip address, and works independently of
connection (lan, cable, t1, dialup). If you get an IP address from your
ISP, it probably came from DHCP.

Well, what makes You say that...? - In fact, there are _many_
_stable_ such services around for _free_. - If Your experience
is different, please let me know.

To host Your own DNS server, You need... - This thing has been
discussed in this group and on the net over and over, but even
if it is possible to have one's own dynamic DNS server running,
in essence it must be visible to the outside all of the time.
With a dial-up connection, You probably don't want that.

I don't know about DIYDNS in particular, but mostly, You get some
"client" from the service that upon connection to the net via dial-
up will report the dynamic IP address for that session to the ser-
vice, which in turn will feed it into their DNS. - Your ISP will
assign Your IP by some means of DHCP anyway. And the dynamic DNS
does not need DHCP, but only some means of finding out Your
session IP.

Cheers, Jack.
