My First Long Range WiFi

Hi All.... I live in a neighborhood where we can't get DSL or Cable
internet access. Satalite scucks and about 10 of my freinds all want
the speed. So I decided that we would all pitch in and pay for a t1 or
t3 to be placed somewhere in the middle of the neighborhood. (they are
actually going to charge us to dig a line all they way out there.)
anywayz... what I suggested to my freinds is that if we all pitch it
we could probably get a t1 out there and setup a cool long range wifi.
I know it's been done but I haven't a clue on how to get started. Does
anyone know that kind of equipment I'm going to need and how to do the
basic setup.?

I've setup regular home wireless networks before. That I can do very
easily... is it just as easy for long range? The ferthest of the 10
members is aprox 4 miles away... we are not all exactly line of sight
but if I put it on a pole that's long enough I figure I could do
it.... can someone please give some info on the equipemnt I need and
the kind of setup i might need. heck if you've got some manuals, kits
or links on "how to setup" that would be great!

Damian.
