My DSL hookup does not use a modem, what now?

I recently purchased a MN-700 router to network my
computers. I have DSL service through BellSouth.
Unfortunately, I have fiber optic cable to the jack.
From the jack it is a straight ethernet cable to the
computer. No modem. Getting on the internet is through
a PPPoP connection. I tried to hook up the ethernet
cable to the router and from the router back to the
computer. During setup I selected PPPoP setup, however it
cannot logon to the internet. My computer recognizes the
router, but if I try to connect to the Internet with the
router installed, I receive an error message. Is there
an installation process for setups that do not have a
modem? I contacted my service provider and they stated
that they do not support ANY network with fiber optics,
regular copper wire, yes, fiber optic, no. Does anyone
else out there have any experience with this problem? I
if so, I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

It seems you're still trying to do PPPoE from your computer while router is
in the middle.

Internet <-> MN700 <-> Computer

You should configure PPPoE and provide your credentials on MN700, it will
establish the session, and share the connection on your home network via
NAT.

Baris.

If after following the other posters instructions, try to
clone your PC IP address.
