I have been running a Windows 2003 NLB "cluster" (yes, not a true
cluster) for some months now with out issue. Call it
nlb1.mydomain.local with cluster IP of 192.168.1.100
Users connect to nlb1.mydomain.local via Remote Desktop.
I recently added a 2 more servers in a second NLB cluster
(nlb2.mydomain.local) on a different IP address (192.168.1.101) with a
different DNS name. It is on the same segment and in the same IP
subnet as nlb1.
As soon as I brought nlb2 online, I can no longer connect to either NLB
using the dns name or IP of the respective cluster (nlb1.mydomain.com
or nlb2.mydomain.com). I *can* connect to individual servers by name
and the non-nlb IP address.
Do I need to put the NLB clusters on a different subnet? Different
VLAN's in my switch? The switch is a Linksys sr2024 (the one without
Webview). It does not do IGMP snooping.
Any insight/advice is appreciated
