Hello

I have multiple nics in a server. Is there anywhere to tell DHCP to ONLY
bind to 1 nic and use that ?

I need multiple nics for backup.

Thanks

Yes, open the DHCP console, right click the Server and select Properties.
Click the Advanced tab then the Bindings button.

It doesn't work like that.

No you don't. It also doesn't work like that. You are getting a false sense
of security from something that won't do what you expect if there was an
outage. The way to have a "backup Nic" is to leave it in the box on a
shelf. If the old one fails you power down the machine, swap the Nic, power
back up. The backup Nic must be the identical brand/model or the first one.
Running two Nics does not provide redundancy as you think.

Ah! Ok,..sorry about that.

I still don't think the Nics will work for redundancy very well though.

Ok. That's fine then. I thought you meant "rudundant Nics". Yea, I wasn't
aware of the DHCP Binding setting until Doug mentioned it.
