I've just installed a WS2003 on a server to act as a DC for a network of ten
XPPro PC's. They are currently networked peer to peer through a switch and
the network is called "Workgroup" and they all have have unique names and
can see each other in view workgroup computers in my network places. (Or
they could until I promoted the server)
I have created the first user account on the server, but when I try to
connect any one of the workstations to the domain with this user name and
password, I get the following error message;
"Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using
more than one user name are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections
to the server or shared resource and try again"
I've read somewhere that I need to change the name of the workgroup(on the
workstation) to the same name as the domain, log out and then change it back
again,
this can't be correct surely? It would be ok on a few PC's but what about a
few hundred?
TIA
Mike H

Also in the server, restart server service and delete all connections in the client by using this command line: "net use * /d". Can you access it now? Please post back with the result.

At the workstation, right click "My Computer" then Properties>Computer name
then "to rename or join a domain click change".and click on domain from the
dialogue box. I type tghe name of the domain, then the user name and

Bob,
Tried again today to connect to the domain but instead of the Multiple connections error, It threw up "Access Denied" instead. I ran the above command and got a "system error 67", I checked this out on your website and the bits that do apply to this situation are covered.
regards
