Hello All
I have a server with two nics. One is connected on the
private side with a 192.168.0.0 scheme. The other one is
connected to our DSL with a routable IP address. When I
complet the configuration for the private side, the
routable side is pingable. However, if i remove the
default gateway from the private configuration, the
routable side is pingable. Does anyone know how to
configure two nics in a multihomed server? Thanks for any
help.

complet the configuration for the private side, the

What is the gateway on the private side supposed to do? The default
gateway of the server must be to the DSL router. The default gateway of the
LAN clients should be server's private NIC.

Internet
|
router
|
public IP dg <router's IP address>
RRAS
192.168.0.1 dg blank
|
clients
192.168.0.x dg 192.168.0.1

Do not apply the default gateway to the private side.
Apply the ip address of the private/local nic as the
gateway on the public/WAN side. This should resolve the
issue.

All that did was turn both cards off. In other words, not
pingable.

My clients are not an issue. The servers public side
which is connected directly to the dsl router is for
public traffic. The private side is for our internal
network only. We do have routers using vpn on the private
side. So what all this means is, any client connected in
our office or through vpn uses the private side. Any
client that is mobile or using the internet uses the
public.

It works now! Wha I did was configured the private sides
gateway to my routers private address and the public
sides gateway to the dsl routers address. Dont know why I
didnt think of that before. Thanks for the responses
though!
