At the moment I have an IIS server and an SQL server. They both have 2 nic's
in. 1 NIC on a 10.0.1.x subnet and the other nic on a 192.168.2.x subnet.
Internet traffic is dedicated to the 192.168.2.x subnet, and internal traffic
on the 10.0.1.x subnet. They both have a default gateway of 192.168.2.254.
However I would like to change the internet gateway router to a 10.0.1.x ip
address, so It can communicate directly with the 10.0.1.x subnet. If I do
this I need to change the 192.168.2.x nics on the server to a 10.0.1.x ip
address. I still need to keep traffic separate. Can I set it up in a way as
to direct traffic from the internet router to a certain network card on the
IIS server, retrieve data from the sql server on the same network card and
send it back to the internet router from this network card.
I have tried putting cards all on the same subnet, but it gets all confused,
and the application fails.

Is this possible, if so how can achieve it.

No that won't keep the traffic separate, it will just screw everything up.
Forget the whole idea of two Nics. If you run switches instead of Hubs, the
traffic is *already* separate.

Ok all devices are running on a switch, and when I take both servers down to
1 NIC on the 10.0.1.x subnet, same as the internet router, the application
times out for internet users. Internal users dont seem to have problems,
just internet users. Any ideas?

Your Firewall (Proxy, whatever you are using) must properly "publish" the
Application to the Internet. It is probably still trying to use the 192.168
setup that no longer exists. There is also usually much more to adjusting
the firewall than changing the interface IP#,...there are Local Address
Tables, Publishing (static NAT) Setups, Access Rules, etc., that can all be
affected by the address change.
