Multicast streams launched?

It looks like the BBC has (very quietly) launched multicast streams for its
radio stations and a few commercial radio stations:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/multicast/radio/index.shtml

but only to the following participating ISPs:

# JANET
# InterVivo
# clara.net
# NetServices Plc
# Zen Internet
# KeConnect Internet
# C & W (but not Bulldog)
# Mistral Internet
# Hotchilli Internet
# fast.co.uk
# Entanet International Ltd
# Bogons
# PlusNet
# IDNet

The links to the streams are on here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/multicast/radio/channels.shtml

Could someone that's on one of the above ISPs say whether the above streams
are working or not and which ISP you're on, please? Thanks.

I had a look, but apparently the trial has been and gone on PlusNet

If you look at the history of that page it's not been updated since January
this year::

http://www.plusnetmulticastingtrials...action=history

but the BBC's multicast website has just changed in the last couple of weeks
from being how it was during the trial with a minimalistic design like this
page:

http://support.bbc.co.uk/multicast/

and now it's had a makeover:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/multicast/

and from what they've written it looks like the radio station streams have
launched:

"Find out if you can experience higher quality audio internet streams
today."

whereas they're still trialling the TV channels:

"Access to the BBC TV Multicast Technical trial is currently limited."

It might be that PlusNet hasn't done anything since January, but I don't
think the BBC would've said to try them today if they hadn't launched them
because they're normally very conservative (read paranoid) about the info
they provide about things like this.

yes I did look at the dates, I know there was a previous multicast
trial, but I thought that was longer ago that January, so given that the
plusnet wiki pages were linked from the "new" BBC multicast page given
above I assumed there was a second trial in but that was also closed now.

I'll keep an ear out, my router is linux based so gettin IGMP working
shouldn't be an issue.

It would be better if the BBC said which ISPs were actually supporting it,
and to provide some info on what people need to get it, because I thought
not all ADSL modems can receive multicast streams.

JANET worked for multicast more than 15 years ago - i used to see video from
a shuttle in orbit when i visited occasionally.

nice to see the commercial world might be catching up.....

I wrote the WIKI and also kept tabs on the phpBB forum.

We are no longer peered with the BBC so the Multicat radios stations
will not work I'm afraid.

I shall email the BBC and ask that reference to us is removed.

Right. Out of interest, why has PlusNet stopped supporting multicast?

Because, as Bob said in his post, PlusNet are no longer peering with the
BBC. Presumably this has something to do with PlusNet being acquired by BT.
