How much extra SNR is needed to go from 512K - 1M?

I'm on 512K.
At the moment, I'm hovering around 60db att, and 18db margin.
I think Shannon says "easily".
Is this correct?

Yes - you will probably find your SNR will fall by about 6dB when you
upgrade.
