That is the way it is meant to be. It is designed that way to protect the
network you are connecting to from the network you are sitting in.
You can over-ride that by finding the option within the config of your
Dialup Connection referring to "use gateway on remote network". Normally
that is enabled,...you will have to disable it. However this limits your
access on the remote network to only the one subnet that you "dialed into".
VPN is a "dialup" technology and works by the same rules as the old mdoem
dialup stuff.
The intended way to use Remote Access VPN is not to leave it up all the
time, but to only connect,..do what you need,..then disconnect,...then
connect again later if you need to. It is the Site-to-Site VPN that is
design to stay "up" all the time, but that isn't what you are doing,..you
are doing Remote Access VPN and the two are completely different things
designed for different purposes.
