Hi,
im having some major issues with the MSFTP server

its a fresh install of Server 2003 with plesk
i can connect to the ftp server fine
its logs in etc..
but when i transfer files it screws up...
it will transfer about 1-5 files using active mode, then i received errors
like....

200 PORT command successful.
Opening data connection IP: 192.168.1.100 PORT: 3144.
STOR admin.php
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for admin.php.
An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
426 Connection closed; transfer aborted.

It happens all the time.

if i try and use passive mode
i get errors like this.... the same situation its transfers a few files then
dies.

227 Entering Passive Mode (216,55,132,43,21,243).
Opening data connection IP: 216,55,132,43,21,243 PORT: 5619.
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

and sometimes when i connect i dont even get a directory listing.
i just get
'/'

and thats it
has anyone got any advise iv tried searching the mskb but couldnt find
anything relevant that could help me

I appreciate it.
Thanks
Rob

First, of all, even though I happen to be a big proponent
of SourceForge (and Freshmeat), most people here would
not recognize something like plesk and probably haven't
tried it.

Therefore it is unlikely you will see much help on how
plesk and MSFtp might interact or interfere with each
other.

But messages such as this, with PHP files are highly
suspicious since Microsoft has no tools that directly use
or call PHP files.

Sounds like plesk or something else...

Consider asking on the plesk mailing list:

Hi, thanks for your reply.
i think you may have miss-understood my post.

The messages i posted
> 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for admin.php.

etc
are the status messages from within the FTP client, i was mearly just giving
an example of what happens when i upload a file (in that example the file
was 'admin.php')

the issue is that MS FTP keeps dropping connections for some reason. nothing
to do with plesk,
plesk only adds users and folders to the windows system that msFTP can
access.

I think it may be a network issue or instability issue with msFTP.

Thanks
Rob

nothing

Then you would do better to leave plesk out of
the title to avoid such confusion.
