Hi guys,

Ok im not sitting in fornt of the machine at the moment so forgive me
for not being able to provide full detail, Running windows 2003
server. Over the last couple of days ive noticed a large amount of
error id's all relating to the master browser service. current Errors
are 3019, 8003, 8019, 3034. I seem to have read endless amount of post
on the net regarding these but have not settled on anything that it
could really be. The strange thing is that the server seems to also
just stop all network activity. No-one can logon to the network all
network drives cannot be accessed etc....But upon a restart of the
server all appears fine, Ive done rearsch into the master browser and
now set all workstations so that they dont contain a list of the server
list. And made sure the server is set to maintain the server list etc.

This is causing me real issues I only support this school one day per
week and need some urgent respones from you guys before im back there.

If any further is required just ask

Thanks in advance

Chris

Do you have WINS, and is it working properly?
I tend to stop & disable the Computer Browser service on all my
workstations, as an extra precaution; it isn't needed if you have WINS
especially. You can do this via group policy or manually on each
workstation.

No we dont have WINS running. And i have also disabled the computer
browser service on all workstations. Something strange happening though
the network would just appear to crash the server could be used but no
network drives could be accessed. We noticed this happened
particularily when a large amount of users logged off. But also first
thing the network would crash at random times with no-one logged on.
Could this be a faulty NIC or possible fault with the switch.

I really need some answers.
cheers guys

Thanks in advance

Chris,

After a reboot of the problem server disjoin the server from the DC by
changing from domain to workgroup. It will require you to reboot again.
Make sure that the computer name is removed from AD.

Once the problem computer boots, login and rejoin the problem server to the
domain. After a reboot see if your problem goes away.

Thanks for the response.... Update on the situation is there are now no
error ids regarding the master browser service so it looks like they
have been removed. Although the server still stops responding well the
network adaptor only recieves packetsall of a sudden why?(this happens
alot when around 20 users are logging off the domain) All of the
network drives are down, but once again a restart of the server and the
network is back up and running. It isn't the switch that is working
fine any ideas guys? Ive also changed the network card today. I wont be
back at that school until next thursday so fingeres crossed. If anyone
has any further information please update me on it i really need your
help

cheers guys
