mprexe.exe and mprserv.dll error

Hi everyone! I'm trying to install a new LAN card in my
pentium II PC, after installing of the driver it prompts
to reboot, after rebooting it prompts to enter a password,
after clicking the OK button it prompts an error "Illegal
Operation" mprexe, on the details tab "it says about
invalid pagefault occur in mprserv.dll etc. and then the
loading process stops there.
I tried to boot from the safe mode and it loads just fine.
I tried to remove the drivers installed on the PC and boot
normally and it works also.
I tried also to remove the network card and everything go
backs to normal.

I know the problem is with the network card maybe on the
drivers or it is just a setting, I just can't figured it
out because I'm not familiar with the error message and
its details. Please Help! Urgent!

In Safe Mode open Network Properties in the Control Panel, try changing the
logon type to Client for Microsoft Networks, then search for any files
ending in PWL and put them in the Recycle Bin (so you can recover them if
needed). Restart normally. Does that put things right?

Thanks for the suggestion, actually it doesn't really work
but I know we are on the right track. I did what you have
just worte me but when I boot it on normal, the *.pwl file
keeps coming back.
I also tried to boot with the windows logon, when I
clicked the OK button with or without the password the
problem occurs, but when I clicked the cancel button it
loads everything and back to normal. I was thinking deeply
about it, I know I'm near but just can't get it correct,
I'm thinking about the loading process on the .ini files
coz the big question is why the *.pwl file keeps coming
back. and Why the cancel button boots normally. Hope for
your help!

Any time you log on, even with a blank password, a PWL file is created to
store the passwords your account may use in the future.

It's odd that it boots normally if you cancel the logon. I can't say that
I've ever seen that before. Just for grins, let's check something ... if
you double-click the Client for Microsoft Networks entry in the Network
properties screen, is there anything in there regarding logging onto an NT
domain?

Yes! there's a checkbox stating "Log on to Windows NT
Domain" but it is unchecked. Why and What's with It?

Okay, I was hoping it was unchecked. Or actually, I was hoping it was and
when I told you to un-check it the problem went away. :-(
