Mozilla not working

Mozilla does not appear to be surfing the internet. I have a DSL router
connected to a Linux server with two NIC's.

The Linux machine I'm bring up I want to be a Linux server. I have two NIC
in the machine. One is connected to my Hub for the internal network and the
other is connected to my router. As I said earlier I can ping the router
with no problems I just can't get Mozilla to surf the internet. If I set
the proxy settings in Mozilla to my Windows proxy server/ISA 2000 then
everything works just fine. Since my DSL router has four ports I have the
internet NIC plugged in one. At the current time I have not set proxy in the
browser in an effort to get things working.

Thanks so much for you help I have been able to get connection to the router
working. I confirmed this by being able to ping the router. Which I think
was working all along. My real problem is with Mozilla. .

By the way I new to Linux moving from Windows.

It appears to be unable to talk to the NIC in order to surf the internet.
When I select a url I get the following message "www.redhat.com could not be
found. Please check the name an retry.".

More about my configuration:

Any input you may have is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for your help I tried the suggestion that you made however, I am
still un-successful. I established a DNS using the instruction from
"Mastering Linux 9" by Michael Jang publisher is sybex.

When I perform the "dig" command on my domain I get a time out message and a
server not found error.

When I perform a ping I get the message "Host unreachable". Can you give
me things to try. I really want to get this working.

Thanks

Louis

Jolly good. Which version? 9.2.2?

What do the error logs say happened?

You may like to try the documentation available direct from the ISC. I
haven't read the book you mentioned, but likely it is outdated.

[snip]

Rather than trying to "ping" a DNS server, a better way to test it is
to issue a DNS query.

1.) telnet localhost 53

Does this connect? If not, then DNS is not running.

2.) If the local DNS server is running, try some queries using
"nslookup", "dig" or "host" - what is the output?
