£5 a month is not to be sniffed at.

Anyone with Sky? Are they any good?

Thanks
Kev

Yes. For connectivity, yes. Don't expect their mail server to be too
reliable.

IMHO HTH.

Ok, thanks. Not too bothered about the mail server, as long as the
connection is reasonably sound.

You also need to have a BT phone line. Add the cost of that too. Probably
lower than most so possibly worth a second look.

Been with them a couple of months now (Max package @ £10 a month) -
connectivity is generally pretty good, and I get a decent connection
(6-7Mbit) despite being about 3km away from the exchange.

Per the other resply, the mail server was out for several days earlier
this week, and the webmail facility is a complete joke - I haven't
been able to use it since I changed the password ! (and not because I
don't know what it is !)

Probably.

I decided to switch to Sky BB a couple of months ago as I was already a
Sky TV customer. I cancelled my previous ADSL ISP and Sky talked of me
being connected in ~2 weeks. I'm still waiting! Luckily I also have
cable available to me so I've been forced to sign up to VM BB while I'm
waiting for the Sky drones to drag their feet (seemingly as slowly as
possible) to connect me.

I'm now one week into me having given them 1 month to connect me or I
dump their TV service as well. Today I received a third email assuring
me that if I ring them (0870 of course) in 3-5 days time they'll
definitely be able to start processing my order. Sorry $ky I just don't
believe a word you tell me any more! Even their 2nd/3rd line support
people talk utter cr*p!

This concerns me slightly, I won't be best pleased if they mess me about.
But then, I've also heard stories of people being connected early etc. and
the service being great.

I guess all providers have their horror stories, just hope I'm not one of
them.

Kev

I had a similar situation with them, they sent my old ISP a cease &
release knowing that they had problems with their kit at my exchange &
I eventually got some type of satisfaction after 3 months of, 2 calls
a week, them telling me to break into their cabinet & fix the problem
myself, yes I would be getting compensation etc etc etc & it was only
after I went ballistic at our CEO & told him to forward the log of all
my calls & letters to the SKYNet CEO & 2 days later SKYNet got a
engineer to the exchange & it took him all of 60 minutes (at most) to
make right what I told them was wrong all along.

Now I'm going to have another ding dong with them as they have slid my
contract 3 months forwards so are trying to charge me a far higher
penalty fee for me to close my broadband account inside my 12 month
contract than they should be.
