I want to move to BT Yahoo broadband.

However, Bt told me that I have to CANCEL mi existing service before
ordering BB from them. The ordering process then takes 9 days - so I am 9
days without Broadband!

Is this true or have I been given incorrect info.

All I want to do is migrate from one ISP to another.

Thanks

Sounds about right - a cease and reprovide.

Until there is a smoother migration scheme in place you do run the
risk of being without broadband for a few days (or weeks). Why not
migrate when you take an overseas holiday to mitigate the
inconvenience?

You want to change from your existing ISP (Nildram?) TO BT Yahoo ?

Just curious, why ?

BT Yahoo should be able to "migrate" you with virtually zero downtime, just
like any other ISP - it should not be necessary to do a "cease and
reprovide"...

Just try BT Yahoo again - its probably a *very* unusual request.. most
migrations they deal with are probably customers moving away from them (just
based on their size as the "biggest ISP" if nothing else)

If you don't get anwwhere, ask for the "Order management" - they may be more
clued up - just make clear you want to move to them not from them..

Also, you may find posting at
http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=bt useful - there is/was
also a BT representative there who may be able to help you.

Regards
Sunil
