Moved to new ISP

I've moved my ADSL connection to a new ISP. Looking at my new CC bill, I
see I have still been charged by my old ISP. The move was completed in
August, so they shouldn't really be charging me now.

Should the old account have been cancelled automatically when the line was
ported to the new ISP or do I need to do something. The ISP in question is
Clara.net.

At the risk of stating the obvious why was this not sorted with Clara.net
prior to the move.

or should I be so bold as to say why not pick the phone up to then now
instead of asking us.
