move wins & dns to member server before 2003 ad upgrade ?

Is its better to move DNS and WINS services from my 2000 DC over to the 2003
member server before starting the 2003 AD upgrade on the 2003 member server
?

2000 dc with ad
2003 member server (will be DC of 2003 ad domain)

I think the key is making sure the DNS and WINS work.
