I get a +1 minute pause when mounting a NFS partition. The partition is
30GB with 21GB used. The server is a Mandrake 10.1 install with kernel
2.6.8 and the client is a Mandrake 10.1 install with kernel 2.6.11 and
the nics are 100 Mps. Once the partition is mounted everything is fine.
Any ideas?

greater than 30 second pauses... then everything is ok... usually is
a DNS timeout issue. Are you using IP Addresses or names? If your using
names... can you do a ping name and have it resolve t the IP Address
quickly?

I get the long pause using IP addresses or names. Yes pings are quick.

Running 'portmapper' on the client fixed it.
