Does anybody have any comments on the Motorola Canopy systems? Good
and / or bad comments.

We are going to start using these systems at my office, both
point-to-point and point-to-multipoint and I would a head start on
problems that I might encounter. Or, things I can do to prevent
problems. As our P-2-P distances are around 4-6 miles we will be
using the reflectors. And at the endpoints, I'm assuming a
six-antenna cluster.

Any words, good and bad, would be appreciated.

Thanks,

bob

The Canopy solution is not a very well designed system. The radios are in
cheap plastic housings, and mounting arms, not very rugged. The CPE antennas
spray a very ugly 60* beam out of them, polluting your spectrum.

I used to point people towards Trango, but Trango corporate changed pricing
structure, and product lineups, effectively making their product useless.
Check out www.apertonet.com, Alvarion VL www.alvarion-usa.com, and Wi-Lan
Libra 5800 www.wi-lan.com.

IMHO, the Canopy should only be used as a last resort.
