In a previous thread on this subject, Bob Tennent gave a very useful
piece of advice:

Is this something that can be plugged in to both hub and PC? Ideally,
what I'd like to do is the following:

1) Plug a WL-330 into the standard NIC in my PC.

2) Plug another WL-330 into one of the ports of my hub.

With this, would my PC communicate wireless with my hub? That is; would,
for all practical purposes, this allow me to successfully connect my PC to
my hub wirelessly. Forget about that issue of transmitting in the clear;
I'd deal with that afterwards.

Yes. Of course, some minor configuration will be needed at both ends.
But you will *not* have to find/compile/install/configure wireless
drivers!

Thanks so much. I think this is exactly what I require: I will be moving
just one PC, and I have no need (or desire) to go wireless with the others.

Won't he need a crossover cable to connect to the hub since the
hub and AP will both use the same pinout on the cable? Or do these
devices automagically sense whether they are being used as a hub or
computer and adjust their pinout accordingly?

Or perhaps his hub has a connector wired like a computer and that
would work unless he's using it to connect to another hub or the
Internet.

The device will plug into a hub in AP mode and to a computer in adapter
mode. It has a switch to change mode.
