I am looking for a low cost application that will show key performance
monitor metrics on large groups of Windows 2000 computers. The key
requirements are:

- Ability to specify each computer's name or IP address

- Ability to remotely gather key performance monitor statistics.

- Ideally, the application would gather the obvious things like memory, CPU,
and disk statistics without a painful user interface that requires careful
thinking and selection for each computer from a long list of possible
parameters.

- Ability to use persistent groups of counters and apply these to machines
or groups of machines as a template.

- Ability to show each machine's statistics in small performance graphs that
are layered on the screen, row by row.

- Ability to show statistics for groups of machines (for example, you might
have one graph for all web servers, another graph for all load testing
client machines, another graph for all database servers, etc).

- Ability to see anomolous behavior of any one machine in a group of
machines on the group graph.

- Ability to quickly break down the groups of machines into graphs of the
individual machines.

- Bonus points if it can also graph memory, disk, and CPU for UNIX machines
of different flavors.

- Cheap is usually better than expensive.

- I'm particularly interested in finding any shareware implementations or
implementations from smaller companies as we may have a requirement to
eventually license this code for incorporation into one of our commercial
products.

A variety of inexpensive applications that will meet your requirements can be
found at http://www.monitoring-software.net - look under 'network monitoring'.
