Hello,
I don't know if this is the right newsgroup, if not please redirect me :-)
I have a Dell inpiron 500m laptop whit an Intel Pro Wireless/2100
miniPCI card in it, running fedora core 4.
I have installed the ipw2100 driver and firmware. And it works.
I have alsp installed wireless tools v.27.
My problem is that I want to run kismet or airsnort in order to monitor
some networks, but I can't seem to set my card in to monitor mode (which
I believe is the same as rfmon)
When ever I run a command like:
# iwconfig eth1 mode monitor
then iwconfig returns:
eth1 unassociated ESSID

As you can see from the second line the mode is still Managed. I can
change it into other modes (e.g. ad-hoc)
I believe this is the reason that kismet gives me the error:
[root@boxmax wlan]# kismet

A'm I right? Has anybody anybody got something that might help me?
Thanks
/Thomas
