There are software (e.g. netstublmer, inssider) you can run on a laptop to
show the signal strength coming from a wireless router or AP.

How do I measure the laptop's transmission strength as seen by the router?
This seems just as important when debugging signal strength problem.

I imagine you'd have to place another laptop near the wireless router
(perhaps turn off the router temporarily). But what software allows you to
monitor the laptop's signal? Both software above only shows access
point/wireless router.

Hi
First read this, http://www.ezlan.net/wbars.html
The problem is that almost none of the Entry Level Wireless cards provide
real SNR reading.
This software provides Signal strength and SNR if available correctly.
