You're not the first and you won't be the last :-)

No problem.

It's rather nice really. Much rather have this sort of thing (adds a
personal touch!?) than the spam (Mohammed?)

Was a nice, if a little surreal, trip.

Generally in advance and there's no guarantee that anyone will respect
your wishes. Usenet is an open medium.

Google won't archive your post if you set the relevant flag AIUI.

Oh, I see you are posting via Google Groups
If you put "X-No-Archive: Yes" in the headers, or even the body of the
message, Google
should delete the message after 6 days (I have done that on this message)
Prolems are:
1) It is normal Usenet practice to quote all or part of the message you are
replying to;
this won't get removed.

2)What ever else people say about Google Inc, they do (IMO) do a useful job
in
archiving Usenet posts for prosperity, but *Google is not Usenet* and almost
all posters
here will be using a newsreader to download posts from a newsserver onto
their
own PC like email. The newsservers themselves to not retain posts
indefinitely.

3)There are entities other than Google who put Usenet content onto the Web
as
a vehicle for advertising. I don't expect these paracites will honour
"X-No-Archive: Yes"

I quite like the idea that my contributions may well be readable by my great
grandchildren
after I am gone
