Modem settings

I am trying to configure a new ADSL modem following a catastrophic failure
of my existing one. I am using BT broadband, wires only, 2Mbps. Most of
the settings I can remember but there are some that I need help with - my
existing paper guide is "in a safe place" and I cannot find details on the
net. My new modem is an ADDON ARM8100.

PPP Settings:
Username: (E-Mail Removed)
Password: blank
But I believe that those details are irrelevant anyway as the check is made
on a line basis.
Authentication: Auto or CHAP or PAP - Auto doesn't work! CHAP seems to,
but the modem complains that it cannot find a "secret" file!

Modem modulation: MMODE/T1413/GDMT/GLITE - MMODE didn't work, but T1413
seems to.

TIA
Chris

Not so. Very relevant. You will need your password before you can connect.

It is not pinned down to the line, You could log in with your credentials on
any other line that your ISP provides broadband on.

That's just great guys, but it is the other two settings that really have me
stumped :-(
Do you have any answers to them, namely:

PPP Settings: Authentication: Auto or CHAP or PAP - Auto doesn't work!
CHAP seems to,
but the modem complains that it cannot find a "secret" file!

Modem modulation: MMODE/T1413/GDMT/GLITE - MMODE didn't work, but T1413
seems to.

TIA
Chris

Multimode doesn't seem to work for me - but T1413 does.

How about authentication? CHAP or PAP?

TIA
Chris

Well mine has automatically chosen 'PAP or CHAP'......yes that is the
setting, not me making a feeble attempt at taking the urine. I've just
checked the paper work I got thru from PN & they don't even mention the
setting.

I've got funny feeling that I do actually know but what with everything
else happening I can't remember, sorry...
