i've just switched dsl provider.
the former provided PPPoE the latter PPPoA
the modem i currently use (ericsson hm220dp) can handle both protocols
but when used with PPPoA would block entering connections preventing
the use from outside of services such as ftp and apache.
i am, therefore, looking around for a new one (adsl2) which would allow
for the use of a/m services, but the one i've found interesting,
linksys adsl2mue, has an internal firewall which would not allow making
use of emule because this program needs that a range of high ports be
opened and from information i gathered thru google there is no way (at
least up to now) to modify the internal firewall for allowing this.
herebelow please find the configuration suggested by the dsl provider:
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
Protocol: PPP over ATM (RCF 2364)
Encapsulaton: VC-Multiplexing (VC-MUX)
What i need therefore is your advice as for which modem would be more
suitable for my needs.
many thanks
aldo
