Modem dials automatically

Just set up 2 computers using WinXP on a home network. Using dial up on
Host and sharing with other computer. How can I stop Host computer's modem
from dialing atomatically? I want to stay off line untill I decide to
connect manually. Thanks.

My network isn't configured that way, so I can't test this, but...

Under Network Connections / Dialup / Properties there is an Advanced
tab. On that tab is a setting that says "Establish a dial-up connection
whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet".
Unchecking that option should achieve what you want, it would appear.
