Modem and Network Card Problem

While running Win 98SE, I cannot get my computer to use
more than one protocol. If I install my modem 1st, I can
use the internet. If I uninstall my modem, an install my
network card 1st I can run the network. When I run the
winipcfg command, there only adapater listed in the drop
down list. They are both installed in the system
properties and in the network properties with the ipx and
tcp protocols also installed. Please note I have another
computer with 98 1st edition, and it doesn't have this
problem. So my question is: How do I get 98SE to use
both cards instead of always trying to use one or the
other?

p.s. Carey Holzman your webpage only lists a fix for this
with windows me, and if I remember correctly win me and
98se differ somewhat when it comes to networking.

p.p.s. Reading through a lot of the recent posts, I'm not
the only one to have this problem.

Thanks to anyone who can help,
Me
