Mobile Phone access to Network

I've got a home network, a mixture of wireless and wired accessing an adsl
router and a Sony Ericcson Z600 mobile phone.

I've just bought a usb bluetooth adapter for my laptop running XP home, now
I would like to give the Z600 access to my adsl connection but I am
presently a bit confused as to what type of connection to set up.

It seems to offer GSM which requires phone numbers or GPRS which I don't
think is required.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction for this?

I appreciate I may have to bridge one of my NICs with the bluetooth device.

You cannot give the mobile phone access to your LAN and therefore ADSL.

its a phone connection issue really, how do I connect my mobile phone
to the internet via a Bluetooth adapter on a PC ?

The start point is to determine if the phone can handle a bluetooth
network connection rather than making its own connection via GSM or
GPRS.

Seems there's mixed views on this subject.

I suppose from the logic point of view opinion may be - why on earth would
one want to access the net from a small screen when a network is available
and as such easy access may not be built in but, it could be useful.

It depends. I can connect my Treo to the internet via the hotsynch
cable.

I have to admit that I've never tried to connect a mobile phone's
browser to the internet through BT (as opposed to the other way
round), because the phones I have with BT don't have specially useful
browsers, but I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be possible.

As the OP didn't say which phone, I'd not say it's necessarily not
possible.

But if you were on a mobile phone connected via a USB bluetooth dongle
you wouldn't be any further away than 10m, most probably even less so
you might not be directly in front of it but not far enough away to
make it a chore to sit down in front of it.

Quote from the OP "a Sony Ericcson Z600 mobile phone".

I can connect my PDA to ADSL via bluetooth and MS Activesync but
that's about it. A bluetooth network to access the ADSL from the PDA
directly was more trouble than it was worth. I haven't managed to do
it yet without Activesync.
