mn730, Windows98, Microsoft Broadband Networking - problems with lphlpsvr

Hello, I double checked that the file I'm having problems with is NOT
iphlpsvr. When I install Microsoft Broadband Networking onto this
Win98SE box, the internet works for a minute or two, then it stops
working. The system tray says Network Status: Uncertain or something,
then internet stops working. When I hit ctrl-alt-del there is a big
list of "lphlpsvr" in there, and depending on how long I let it go, is
how many there are. Usually there's a little more than a page of
them. I restart the computer, then same thing - it works like a charm
for a minute, then goes kaput. Is there some less robust software I
can install to make the mn730 work for the internet? The computer is
a piece of junk, but I need to have it work on the internet. thanks,
