I am using Windows XP Pro on the base station and on one of
the remotes. The other remote is running on Windows 98.
When I first installed the wireless software, I had it
setup the WEP security and I provided a unique SSID name as
well. I used these to setup the remote computers
The Windows XP Pro remote computer is the one that doesn't
re-connect while running even though the signal is
excellent. What is odd is the computer had no problem find
the network (with channel changed to 8) on a cold boot in
the morning but loses it while running and cannot
re-connect. If go and reset the channel to 6 on the base
station, the remote computer re-establishes the wireless
connection. I have reset the base station (from the
software) a couple times in the past. Should I reset the
base station regularly? The current session has been
running for 11 days.
Does the remote desktop adapter have a specific order to
re-connect utilizing the SSID first even if channels have
been changed?
I had changed the channel to 8 and all remote computers
recognized it. When I changed back to channel 6, the
Windows 98 machine was not running. On startup, it did
find the wireless network and appeared to reset itself to
the new channel 6.
