MN730 / MN700 and channel retention problem

I have a neighbour with a wireless network which is set to
channel 6. I have a several occassion changed to another
channel. It works fine for a while but if the MN730
adapter connection drops with the MN700 (for whatever
reason), the adapter is not able to reconnect to new reset
channel set on my base station. I then have to reset the
base station back to channel 6 (the default) and the
wireless connection is re-established. It appears the
MN730 reverts back to the default channel 6. I have tried
various channels and the outcome is always the same. I
have two remote computers using the MN730 with the same
result so I don't think its a problem with the adapter card.

Has anyone else found this happening to them? I figured the
last channel set in the remote adapter would be retained if
the wireless connection drops. Any suggestions or is this
a bug in the software, etc.?

What operating system?
Are you using WEP? Are you broadcasting the SSID?

I am using Windows XP Pro on the base station and on one of
the remotes. The other remote is running on Windows 98.
When I first installed the wireless software, I had it
setup the WEP security and I provided a unique SSID name as
well. I used these to setup the remote computers

The Windows XP Pro remote computer is the one that doesn't
re-connect while running even though the signal is
excellent. What is odd is the computer had no problem find
the network (with channel changed to 8) on a cold boot in
the morning but loses it while running and cannot
re-connect. If go and reset the channel to 6 on the base
station, the remote computer re-establishes the wireless
connection. I have reset the base station (from the
software) a couple times in the past. Should I reset the
base station regularly? The current session has been
running for 11 days.

Does the remote desktop adapter have a specific order to
re-connect utilizing the SSID first even if channels have
been changed?

I had changed the channel to 8 and all remote computers
recognized it. When I changed back to channel 6, the
Windows 98 machine was not running. On startup, it did
find the wireless network and appeared to reset itself to
the new channel 6.

You didn't answer whether your were broadcasting the SSID or not.
On the XP machine, make sure that you are using XP and not the utility
to configure the wireless network settings and that your SSID is the
only one in preferred networks AND that you have unmarked to
automatically connect to non preferred networks.
