MN710 Good signal but pauses constantly

I have a good signal but I'm having trouble loading
websites and downloading even though I have a very good
signal the speed seems to shift alot and when it shifts to
11mbps is when it seems to lose connectivity... My quest
is mainly this, I used to have a MN-510 and I could
control the connect speed of the adapter, I would like to
lock the connection at 1 or 2 mpbs like I had the mn-510
and I don't see that option, is there perhaps an older
driver for the mn-510 or an alternate driver I can use to
lock the connect speed of the NIC? Thanks in advance,
