MN700 IPX/SPX

Does ipx/spx file/print sharing work with the MN700?

Although I found it easy to enable ipx/spx file/print
sharing when I was using the MN500, I've not successfully
enabled it (ipx/spx file/print sharing) using the MN700.

I've tried using Windows XP Help and Support & the MN700
Network Troubleshooter, and searched the web.

TCP/IP file/print sharing works perfectly.

Thanks

The MN700 shouldn't prevent IPX/SPX from working.

Could mixing 802.11b with 802.11g, or having WPA enabled
block ipx/spx file/print sharing?

it should not interfere.

When computers are connected to the MN700 using ethernet
cable, ipx/spx file/print sharing is enabled.

But it seems that ipx/spx does not work using the
wireless card (MN520).

At
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/br...etworking/15_D
ownloads.aspx no updates are available for the MN520.

At the website you mentioned, select MN700 and get the msbndownload.exe
file. After downloading it, run the file.

It should detect your MN520 and update the drivers and firmware as necessary
(as well as any other MSBBN hardware that it detects on the network).

I had done that previously.

Just to be sure, I've done it again for each of the
connected computers. It appears that the MN700 and MN520
are uptodate.

Thank you again
Best regards

My last post was unclear.

Lately, we have checked the Microsoft Broadband
Networking Hardware website repeatedly for new updates.

Today, we have, again, downloaded and run a fresh copy of
MSBNDownload for each connected computer. This indicates
that no updates are required for the MN700 or the MN520.

All computers run Windows XP. All critical updates
including KB826942 Wi-Fi update and Q815485 WPA update
are installed on each computer.

And the computers are unable to file/print share using
ipx/spx unless connected by ethernet cable. Then it works
perfectly.

TCP/IP file/print sharing works well--no problems.

Thank you.

Best regards.
